What is Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that works with both the conscious and subconscious mind to help facilitate positive psychological and behavioural change. By accessing a state of focused attention and deep relaxation, it becomes easier to reinforce healthier patterns of thinking, feeling and responding.
Hypnosis has been used therapeutically for many years and research suggests it can be an effective intervention for a range of psychological and physical concerns, particularly when used alongside evidence-based psychological approaches and appropriate medical care where required.
A common misconception is that hypnosis involves losing control or being made to do something against your will. In reality, you remain aware of your surroundings and in control throughout the process. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative experience—you cannot be made to say, think or do anything that goes against your values or wishes.
My practice is informed by Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, a gentle and client-centred approach that uses guided imagery, metaphors and carefully tailored suggestions to support lasting psychological change while respecting your individual needs.
What are Self-Hypnosis Audio Recordings?
Although I currently don’t offer live hypnotherapy sessions, I provide personalised self-hypnosis audio recordings to complement counselling. Each recording is tailored to your individual goals and is designed to reinforce the progress we make together between sessions.
For the best results, I recommend listening to your personalised recording every day for at least 21 consecutive days. This regular practice helps strengthen therapeutic suggestions, reinforce healthier patterns of thinking and behaviour, and support lasting change.
During our work together, we’ll discuss whether a personalised self-hypnosis recording is appropriate for your individual needs and goals.
